and other similarly-colored spring bloomers
In late summer the winter-deciduous clump is further adorned with terminal clusters of tiny white flowers
(aka: Trillium ludovicianum A2LA-030) This strain of the Louisiana native Trillium ludovicianum represents our flowering-sized seedlings
The result is a rigidly upright fern to 2-3' tall with the silvery grey foliage of Athyrium niponicum
Aphyllanthes monspeliensis Farfugium and other similarly-colored spring bloomersFew gardeners have ever run across the monotypic Aphyllanthes monspeliensis, unless you've spent time in the Mediterranean region south to Morocco. This solitary genus in the Asparagus family produces a small rock garden size plant that looks like Festuca glauca until it flowers, then it looks just like a sisyrinchium or other irid. The narrow wiry glaucous leaves form a tight clump, topped, starting for us in mid April with 1" medium blue flowers.
